This is a really …
This is a really cool, cohesive episode. The bedroom looks transformed! So much cleaner and better for a man with allergies. Good job.
COOL QUICK TIP.
Gee, I wonder if …
Gee, I wonder if another option would be to kind of cut a stencil cutout from the contact paper? So it looked like a “carved” headboard? Or like paper cutouts. (Just thinking out loud, I like putting my own spin on ideas.)
As long as the …
As long as the design’s not fiddly to cut out, it won’t be a problem to stick it in place. It’s just so dull without any design or motif on the contact paper headboard. Think out loud~
Contact paper IS …
Contact paper IS easy to remove. It doesn’t pull of the paint or anything. Really easy stuff. I love the new headboard. The gray and light birch woodgrain look so fresh and cool together.
As a designer, I …
As a designer, I applaud this episode especially. You created a beautiful finished room on a really do-able budget, with an extremely high-end result. The gray and birch are really hot right now, you are on the cusp of some really forward ideas communicated in an accessible way. Bravo.
Yeah, but that’s …
Yeah, but that’s nothing new to me or common sense. Maybe I’m unconsciently still angry about promoting you in Germany and never get a reaction from you (Rob and Corinne that is). But I liked the idea of painting everything grey.
Why not attach the …
Why not attach the contact paper to a free-standing piece of cardboard and place it behind the bed, instead of sticking it right on the wall? This is a good way to recycle those huge pieces left over from appliances, etc., can be switched out easily, and takes up virtually no room.
that’s a great idea …
that’s a great idea. and for anyone worried about it sticking, there are no worries there.

Seriously, great ideas! I love this show!
Okay, I have to …
Okay, I have to admit, when Decor It Yourself first came out, I had my doubts. I didn’t think that a decorating show would interest me. BUT!!! It has been great since the beginning! I looooove this show so very very much. Thanks for all of the great work!!
you can just as …
you can just as easily make a padded headboard with a piece of plywood, staple gun, fabric, and quilt batting
Also for allergies, …
Also for allergies, it’s a good idea to vacuum out the mattress for dust mites.
I will be moving …
I will be moving into a tiny studio apartment in Los Angeles in a few months and it would be great if you could do a special on how to decorate a studio apartment to best use the limited ammount of space.
thanks!
