Despite what anyone says I think people naturally make assumptions about a person based on their outward appearance - it’s instinct at work. By dressing in a certain way they’re looking to downplay the negative impact that a scruffier look (or a half-naked woman or brand logo with a negative or commercial image) would deal to a potential convertee.
