Homelessness Visual Journal Page

I created this journal page after attending a walk for the homeless and also after being in a back alley where homeless people were living. My intent was to give a voice to what i had been feeling and experiencing in the past week. Creating art is a very cathartic and moving experience. Don’t be afraid to add unusual items to your pages such as safety pins, duct tape, plumbers tape, bandaids etc.

My apologies to Brobdingnagian Bards for horribly misspelling their name on my video. I blame it on menopause :).

Namaste,
Violette

Violette this video …
Violette this video evoked tears…. poignant, heartfelt and sincere! Absolutely wonderful…I could see more video’s around this issue. Beautiful music too….I even like the darkness of the video…it channels the mood. The Band-Aid really got me! It seems there is just a Band-Aid put on this whole issue. The duct tape and safety pin seemed significant. Tape and pins are not usually a permanent solution, just a quick fix. Thanks for taking the time to put your heart in such a lovely piece!

I really enjoyed this video. It is interesting to know where people get ideas for a page. Mine tend to be a lot closer to home.

thanks Ms. Happy! …
thanks Ms. Happy! The duct tape, bandaid and safety pin are all symbolic to me……and most solutions we have for the homeless are bandaid solutions. I think the biggest cure for it is to change our thinking around it…..to change the way we look at the folks who find themselves most often through no fault of their own - homeless.

Thanks for your kind comments.
